I skipped the 5th and 6th Surface iterations and waited for 7. I was really excited about the new 10nm i7 processor, RAM and improved WiFi. Unfortunately, the truth is that the new Surface model is a big, expensive, dated disappointment... Not only is the screen exactly the same as the previous model, it still doesn't support HDR, HDR+, or 4k quality apps. For real? For $1,500 in 2019, Microsoft is giving us cutting-edge technology in 2016. Thanks very much! Also, the built-in SSD is horrendously slow, the new LPDDR4x RAM isn't faster than LPDDR3, and the new USB-C port doesn't charge the device, seriously, even the most powerful and fastest chargers I've had didn't charge it, including the one that came with the tablet. Oh, and since there's no longer a DP port, a USB-C to HDMI adapter is a must to connect an external monitor, which adds an extra cost. The only seemingly positive change is the new Intel WiFi6 chipset, but that's not enough to justify the price premium over the Surface 6, and it lags heavily and drains the battery quickly. However, there are some issues that are even more important: 1) Terrible, unacceptable battery life! Even on low brightness with everything off except Wi-Fi, I can't get more than 5 hours out of it AFTER a firmware update. 2) Both cameras suck in good light, in low light they are just useless 3) FAN NOISE is just UNBEARABLE! And that's constantly, because the tablet gets very hot very quickly, the processor throttles the speed and the tablet becomes terribly slow. When using MS Word! If you're using Photoshop or any other power-hungry application, even with the fan on, the processor will overheat and there's nothing you can do about it. To be honest, I'm extremely disappointed. It's not an upgrade, as an upgrade is an improvement over the previous model, and the Surface Pro 7 isn't an upgrade at all. And I'm not saying Microsoft has any evil plans, but you can even say that they intentionally ruined this Surface Pro to sell more of the next one that will likely have real improvements and be used for well over a year. Hour.
