Having read some of the reviews on this tool I'm not sure where some of the comments are coming from. Here's my thought from a man who isn't a professional, but I like to think I am. Let's look at this tool and what it did for me. If you're looking for a tool that will keep reshaping/removing popcorn clean, it's not there. What I've found from trying different things with this tool is that you can use it both dry and wet, but if you want a smooth scraping/removal you'll need to wet the blanket. The blade is made of plastic and will not slide smoothly on a dry popcorn top. This tool worked great for me because I didn't have to take everything off the ceiling. I was able to keep the ceiling texture look by removing the popcorn. I attempted a test run to see how it would work if I removed everything, but to do this I had to make sure the blanket was wet. Not sure how some had problems with the hole clogging, this one had no such problem. I've tried the old school vacuum adjustment blade and what a pain it is and it makes a terrible mess, with this tool the mess was minimal and easy to use. I didn't try to add a stylus, but when I used it, I stood on a short platform and held it with my hand, doing it the way I wanted and needed. When using it with a painted ceiling I had no problems. So I'm not sure where all this struggle with this tool is coming from. It was a game changer for me and a few people wanted me to make a quilt there because I have this tool and it's fast and not that messy when I make it. customize what you want. Secondly, keep this in mind if there will be a mess during the renovation but if you use this tool properly it is very minimal, throw away a rag, prep your area and it doesn't take long to clean up when you are done .
