I use it on my fishing boat. It starts my 50 lb trolling motor, charges the battery, starts the boat and turns on the navigation lights. I set the output voltage to 13.5 and am using a 1000 watt generator. I don't do all of this at the same time. If your alternator isn't big enough, the current drawn will push the reset switch to the genie. Running your trolling motor at high power for more than 15 minutes will trigger the reset switch on the 1000w Ginny. If you run the troll at 1/2 speed it will run all night with no problems. It's easy to connect. Run a decent power cord from your Genie to the PSU, and then run two cords from the PSU to the 12 volt battery. There is an adjustment on the DC side of the power supply. Connect a multimeter to it and set the output voltage to 13.5 before installing it on your boat. 13.5 charges your battery without frying it and will not damage your trolling motor electronics. Also, I don't think it's waterproof/durable so put it in the dry compartment.
