These filters can go like $5 each, or more if you buy one at a time.I have to change my filter every 3 or 4 weeks. The filter is dark brown then. The water is from a shallow well, and has a lot of grit/sand in it.Unfiltered water from a well can ruin a hot water heater, washer, dishwasher, and damage faucets.If you get a film on your countertop from water drying on it, a water filter may help that too.Its funny though, I have to wipe my car after washing it. Water drops evaporating, even with the filter, leave a thin film. That film would be thicker without the filter.
