Review on Hopkins 47275 Brake Control Installation by Justin Ritter

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Convenient but not enough cord to work with.

A little pricey for some of the cables and connectors but I think it was worth it not to buy them in the B&M world. I used a fuse holder and fuse and some wire hangers, but what I actually used was a 12 gauge external extension from the front of the car to the rear. This gave me 3 #12 wires to 1) supply 12v to the trailer, 2) brake control wire from the controller to the trailer, and 3) brake light on the signal wire from the brake lights back to the brake controller. #3 was needed as it is no longer that easy to remove the brake pedal switch. For reasons unknown, it has 4 tiny wires attached to it - more than just an open circuit - so I didn't want to tamper with something I didn't understand. .

Pros
  • Electronic brake control installation kit for vehicles NOT equipped with factory towbar kit
Cons
  • old
