Works well but a bit unreliable

I have bought 2 of these units in 2 years. I use them for my Stratux GPS navigator while flying various airplanes. The GPS is excellent. I often get <10m location accuracy and it quickly locks onto the GPS position. However, they both had problems at the end of the cable next to the plastic casing of the GPS, resulting in the cable no longer providing a signal (the serial port was not communicating). I ended up having to open up the devices and randomly bend the cable (near the case at the end) to find the location of the cable that would light up the internal GPS LED and allow the serial port to communicate again. I then taped the wire onto the wire and case in this bent position. Since then both have continued to work. I'm going to try the VK-172 VK 172 Gmouse G-Mouse USB GPS along with a braided USB cable for my Stratux to see if I can get something that lasts longer.
