We recently switched to a bottom loading water cooler and no longer need the disposable caps we used to buy. They are not fully waterproof and will drip a little when carrying water jugs to our second floor apartment by the handle, so I wouldn't use them if you keep your jugs on the side. Otherwise we are very happy with it. They're secure enough that I don't have to worry about water leaking from the upright jugs on the way home, but they're not too difficult to remove to put the jug in the fridge. In fact, I really wouldn't need 12 as we only have two jars and therefore only need two lids. Saves a ton compared to buying disposable caps that you have to destroy to remove.
