Our dog uses these gaiters for walking and to protect his claws. I'll list the pros and a few tips you might find helpful: Pro: Very durable. Boots are expensive, but the quality of materials and workmanship is higher. Source: I tried other boots. You can get wet. Our hikes include numerous crossings of water barriers and swimming. The boots are weathered for this use. After use, we simply let the boots air out. The soles of other boots we tried came off after getting wet. It's a less important consideration, but it's an advantage: These boots look sharp, not clunky. TIPS: Our dog has a long, textured coat to keep the booties from slipping off his paws. Our sister's dog is a Labrador and has a very short coat. They noticed that the shoes tended to slip off. However, this can be mitigated by putting on the shoes or wearing Ruffwear socks. Take the time to properly measure your dog's hooves, preferably with weights on them so you can gauge potential toe splay. This is the difference between uncomfortable shoes, shoes that fit, and shoes that fall off easily. I know this because I accidentally ordered boots that were too wide.
