I have been using Loctite 515 as a mechanic for over thirty years and am confident. You can use it as a cushioning bandage or make a seal yourself. I have found it useful to seal small pipe thread fittings in high pressure systems such as hydraulic or cooling systems. Lubricate the 515 threads and the thing will seal while regular pipe lube or teflon tape will seep through the threads. I had a constant oil leak from the push rod tube o-ring on my Harley, I coated the 515 o-ring, put it back together and it never cried again.
