Review on Moen GXP50C Prep Series PRO 0.5 πŸ—‘οΈ HP Continuous Feed Garbage Disposal with Power Cord by Jim Cox

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Nice and compact. When DIY, make sure you are strong enough to replace the snap ring!

Neat, relatively compact 1/2 HP unit. by Moen, but without soundproofing. If you want a quiet block I don't think this is it. It runs at around 2600 rpm, so you didn't fall asleep. For DIYers: 1) Make sure you or someone you know is strong enough to replace the "retaining ring" that holds the components under the sink. The locking ring is under tension and needs to be spread slightly to fit over the protruding portion of the metal down tube. The problem is that you are holding the flange with three bolts while trying to mount the snap ring. IMO, use plumbers to hold the flange in place while installing the retaining ring with both hands. (And ask your wife or boyfriend to push it out of the upstairs sink. #2) Use the included power cord whenever possible. There's just no point in hardwiring a device, even if you have to take the hardwiring and use it to build a new outlet. This device doesn't readily lend itself to a hardwired approach. #3) When in doubt, use plumber's putty. #4) Try not to reuse the components of your old disposal. especially the exhaust pipe (which drains down).
