My home is 42 years old and the phone lines have been replaced several times over the years. My DSL provider recommended that I rewire my house with Cat 5e cable. I bought this and used it as a bulky cable by cutting it into three pieces. This gave me two cables with pre-assembled connector ends. A fairly expensive crimping tool is required to attach the male ends (rj45 connectors). The end of the outlet can be secured with a simple plastic tool that is usually included in the power strip bag. I was able to rewire the house with two stubs of Cat 5e cable, one for the phone line and one for the DSL line. Pre-wired connectors were used in a junction box I had installed in the attic to connect a wire that came from the phone company to two wires that were used to create new stubs in the wall. This wire has 8 strands tightly wound in 4 pairs with standard color coding. Each white wire had a stripe that corresponded to the colored wire, this can be important when unwrapping the wires needed to connect the wires to the socket. If you don't need 500 or 1000 feet of cable and need two connectors without having to buy the necessary crimping tool, this is a good solution. YES, I checked the continuity of the fiber optic cable before cutting it in three parts, everything was GOOD. I'm not a gamer so I didn't review the gaming cable. I expect it to work well within the CAT 5e spec depending on the cable design.
