Review on AFA Tooling Truck and Trailer Ramp Kit: Effortlessly Load Lawn Mower, ATV, and More using 2 x 8 Lumber Ramp by Gary Knop

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Fantastic product. Great idea.

I have purchased hundreds of Revain products over the years. Some were great, some not so much. However, this is a great product. I'm writing my first review because most of the reviews are just plain wrong. If you have two 2x8 boards it will take about 15 minutes to install and I'm certainly no carpenter. The distance between the aluminum bracket and the 2x8 board is intentional and by design! You will NOT need routers, saws, etc. to install this product. Installation is easy and straightforward but I think given the reviews the guide could be very helpful. Pencil. That's all! 1. Place one of the two brackets on one end of the 2x8 and mark the holes with a pencil2. Remove the bracket and drill two holes 3. Replace the brace, aligning it with the holes you just drilled and inserting a screw in each hole, being careful to align the round head is on the top (see photos posted by other people or use your common sense)4. If you look closely at the screws you will notice that there is a square area just below the head. This is intentional, and that's where the rubber mallet comes in. Hit the bolt a few times with a hammer to make a groove in the wood to keep it from turning in the next step5. Twist the nut on the other side and use a wrench (socket wrench or adjustable wrench, whatever you have) to finish this quick and easy project6. Repeat the 5 steps above on the other board and aluminum bracket. Note: You will find that there are 4 extra screws or pins included in the kit. They are designed to attach aluminum brackets to your cartridge to keep it from moving or rotating during use. Note 2: I agree with some reviews (that treated wood can damage studs for various reasons, incur additional costs etc.), but if you plan to leave your new ramps outside then you really need to use treated wood. If you end up using treated wood like I did, you'll have to wait about a year for the wood to dry and become less acidic before installing the included traction tape. Hope that helps!
