Description of AFA Tooling Truck and Trailer Ramp Kit: Effortlessly Load Lawn Mower, ATV, and More using 2 x 8 Lumber Ramp

ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS: Please note that different wood types in 2 x 8 size have different thicknesses. Our ramp kit is made to fit 2 x 8 oak hardwood, which is stronger, makes for a better ramp, but its actual thickness is 1.37 inches. If you do choose to go with softwood or treated wood, you may need to shave the ends to get your kit to fit. Also, we do not recommend softwood for heavier machinery. QUICK RAMPS: Turn standard 2 x8 boards (we recommend oak hardwood for a proper fit and maximum weight load) into a quick ramp for loading your 4 wheelers, lawn mower, ATV, snowmobiles and more. QUALITY CONSTRUCTION: Thick machined aluminum brackets with grip lines, strong bolts, and high-quality rubber grooved anti slip feet for maximum performance. Our ramp kit can hold 750 lbs. each or 1500 lbs. total when used with oak hardwood. ONE PERSON OPERATION: Weighing at only 7lbs, our brackets are easy to stow and operate, perfect for one person operation. ABOUT US: AFA Tooling has been in business since 2013, and we care about our customers! Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns.

Do not use treated wood

Treated wood is too big, so rubber boots will be too small. Raw 2x's are the best choice. The aluminum panels are angled just right to sit flush with the tailgate. If you use ramps frequently, consider metal ramps instead. They hold more weight and last a lifetime.

Inexpensive, durable and easy to assemble

Easy to assemble. I used 4' 2x8s. Went like clockwork. I don't understand all the customers who thought they needed to modify the board. Not so. Look at the closeup photo. it is intentionally constructed that way. Have an engineer analyze this; it is very strong. I installed small boards underneath to lift it off the edge of my trailer door. Good product.

DO NOT BUY THIS Best in Motorcycles and Strength Sports

What am I missing here? Why does this part have to be so difficult? I researched this part from reviews here and online building guides. Most reviewers don't mind changing the board to accommodate this poor design. I didn't want the hassle of returning them so I spent a few HOURS modifying the stock board to fit them. I won't buy this again. Find a simple 90 degree design with two screws and you're done.

  • Dope 🔥

They will not fit on a standard 2x8 board. Beware!

See photos, ramps will NOT fit US standard 2x8 lumber. I had to use a router and miter saw to fit them. See pictures again. As for the black tips, I nailed them on and then had to clamp and glue them to make them work at all. Very bad design. Whoever was the engineer who developed them should be slapped for not using a tape measure to test their own product.

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other picks

This is fine if you're using 6/4 hardwood instead of pine.

Hardwoods and softwoods come in a variety of sizes when processed in nominal 2x8 sizes. These brackets are intended for mounting on S1S 6/4 size oak hardwood which is 1 3/8" (35mm) thick as shown by seller. Oak is stronger than pine therefore the ramp is more durable. Softwood pine scores 38 mm, although both are marked 1 1/2". Industrial practice only. If you go for the cheaper pine, as one user pointed out, just install it with a small gap, but the wood is flush with the metal countertop It's

Great idea, failed to implement

I really wanted it to be as advertised; I have a 275# lawn aerator I'm looking to install in the back of my Outback and it was a lot cheaper than buying ramps. As I think others have mentioned, the edges are SHARP! You cut these pieces out of a huge block and all sides are unfinished, which in the metal world means sharp. That's not why I gave three stars. First the missing equipment. Of course I can go back to Lowe and get the bolt, but come on - you gave me four nuts, what about the bolts…

Works exactly as expected but you need 10 screws which you don't get.

I ordered these because my alternator was very difficult to lift into a pickup truck when I took it for service and I wanted it to be easier to unload when I brought it back. I have read previous reviews and concerns. and I don't think there are any issues other than missing screws for the rubber feet and lack of clarity/images for assembly; the only reason I got 4 stars. First I used Lowe's plain 2X8X8 rough pine boards (Home Depot didn't stock them). Treated wood is impregnated and too heavy;

Fantastic product. Great idea.

I have purchased hundreds of Revain products over the years. Some were great, some not so much. However, this is a great product. I'm writing my first review because most of the reviews are just plain wrong. If you have two 2x8 boards it will take about 15 minutes to install and I'm certainly no carpenter. The distance between the aluminum bracket and the 2x8 board is intentional and by design! You will NOT need routers, saws, etc. to install this product. Installation is easy and…
