Love love LOVE this product. I just spent the weekend fixing my kitchen cabinets MYSELF (no help from my husband)! Replaced all hardware with stainless steel handles and hinges and it's just great. While the instructions don't require you to sand the cabinets, I did. My cabinets were original that came with the house almost 35 years ago and showed heavy signs of wear. Here's what I did: 1) Used Krud Kutter cabinet cleaner to remove dirt, grease, and grime. (This product also removes shine from cabinets) 2) All surfaces lightly sanded (more intensely if there were scratches etc) 3) Using Windex to remove all residue from the Krud Kutter and sanding processes 4) Removed old hinges and handles from doors, cabinets and drawers . Then I moved the cabinets around with my new hinges. (Left handles removed) 5) Tape surrounding equipment/walls with masking tape. 6) Paint all cabinet frames first, then circle and paint all door/drawer fronts (keeping doors open). I bought a good flat paintbrush to trim the door hinges - it was actually very easy! A coat. The first shift lasted about 4 hours due to the many details. The second coat only took about 2.5 hours because you basically want to ensure full coverage. (For reference, I have 26 doors/drawers total, so your time may be more or less.) 8) Go back after step 7 and paint the inside of the cabinet doors. It took just over an hour. Waited 2 hours for it to pass then came back with a second shift. 9) Looked through everything to find repair spots. And all! After everything was painted I left all the doors and drawers open for 24 hours to allow for extra drying time before attaching the door and door handles (the manual says at least 4 hours --- I decided to wait a full day) . And WA-LA! Beautiful, great looking cabinets that cost many times less than having them professionally replaced or even refurbished. As some have suggested I plan on being very careful with my cabinets for at least 6 months to avoid any major scratches that need touching up (but I have to say the finish seems very durable so far. I think sanding and removing the Gloss really helped the paint stick better than usual). The best news is I barely had a pint of paint so I now have enough left over to paint both bathrooms --- plus some touch ups left! This product is absolutely wonderful! Can't recommend enough!
