I am using this on an 8 battery solar system, each of the 2 batteries is connected by fuses on the load side. This provides short circuit/overload protection in each module as close to the battery as possible. The presence of a fuse box on the battery also ensures good heat dissipation. The device and fuse are very compact and easy to install. Don't forget to include the fuse connection in your total load/temperature/cable area calculations - there are plenty of online calculators that will do this for you.
