Well it's more than just a mat for cutting rotary knives and fabric and working with a utility knife. It should be trimmed about 1/8 inch on each long side or 1/4 in width, maybe a hair more. Depends on whether you want the grid to work centered or not to accommodate patterns, stamps and embossing. It's now thicker than the Spellbinders cutting mat, but not much thicker than the Calibers cutting mat. So keep that in mind. If you use two cutting mats, one for cutting and one for cushioning, you may need a thinner backing or don't add a second one on the so-called sandwich side. Stay healthy and enjoy your creativity. I look forward to using it though. Another manufacturer's pink mat was added and the 9" x 12" size turned out to be accurate and didn't require any trimming at all, unless you trim it to face the cutting mat template platform plate corresponds. I keep it in line with the platform board so no trimming is required and I have not yet decided to cut it to the cutter board size or the platform size. But whatever, it's going to be nice. Check Youtube for other hacks but this one has to be the BEST. Savings on many expensive plates, but also your cuts are often cleaner, really cleaner and more precise, requiring less cleaning and weeding of dies, plates etc.
