Very bad design

The worst thing about this product is design and engineering. First, it provides instructions for the water heater shutdown system that are not specific to the ice machine model. I can't understand why they choose custom fittings for their valve ports. They used a less common compression fitting only used for toilet check valves when they could easily incorporate a standard metal compression fitting which is infinitely more reliable. Most will want to install the valve directly in the supply line anyway. The package does not include adapter fittings to install directly into the copper line of a 1/4" ice maker, so plan on a trip to the hardware store. I called about this and they kept telling me it was designed to that it mounts directly onto the angle valve and requires a washer on one side. Seriously? Who has one on the ice machine power line? But the real irony of this comment is that the electrical wires on the wiring harness are too short to give you flexibility when arranging and mounting the controller, valve and sensor. With a 30" cable you will never reach a manual shut off valve in the line (if you have that type of valve). Plan to break out the soldering iron and extra pieces of wire Don't buy this unless you have the advanced technical skills to overcome its poor design. I I'm going to put a shut-off valve in the basement next to the drain because now I'm more worried about her faucets leaking than about the fridge breaking again.
