Replaces the plastic fittings that come with many new faucets.

I recently replaced the bathroom faucets and the rod is plastic. This means it's much bulkier and will catch on the waterlines when you pull on the pull. Since the screw presses the rod against the plastic, the metal rod loosens after just a few pulls and falls off. These vintage metal drawbars install in minutes, and the "metal" thumbscrew that holds metal to metal on the drawbar works every time the drain is opened or closed.

Pros
