Review on πŸ”’ Puroma Stainless Shackle Storage with Packlock by Rob Rogers

Revainrating 3 out of 5

recieved today. Not happy I received the medium size, the larger of the two offered.

At first I had high hopes. It seems at least better built than the Master M40XD. It weighs 1.76 ounces less than my old Abus #24. The main problem is that all three keys work, once you hit the cylinder they are very tight. Also, I don't see any grease marks, they don't seem to grease these locks and yes, they are made in China just like the Master lock. At least the keys move in and out of the master lock easily and the deadbolt moves freely. With this new lock, the deadbolt moves slightly once you insert the key, but you can move the deadbolt by hand a little more and feel a more secure final click. I'll try to polish the buttons to fit properly and see what kind of lube can help the bolt click fully. Once you lock it with the key and pull out the key, it's locked. You can't put the deadbolt back in, but it still has some more until I hear the last click, and when it does, the deadbolt continues into the lock case for about 1/8 inch. For those who want a disc lock that works right out of the box, this isn't for you. As soon as I see if I can fix the problems with the key and the bolt is fully in the house I will let you know and possibly change the rating. My rating is 3 closer to 2. If I could afford Abus I would get their discus lock. My old one still works like a swiss watch and I would use it if I could get two keys, I have one and it was twisted and almost split, I straightened it and it turns so easily with no effort.

Pros
  • Padlocks and latches
Cons
  • Long delivery time
