I bought them for two reasons. #1 because low-loss fittings are built in. I had 5ft tubing with low loss adapters. I'm an HVACR student and we had a 2 minute hypothermia and overheat test. When I screwed the low-loss adapter onto the liquid line fitting, it started to leak. Thinking there was a leak in the system, I tried to tighten it quickly. The leak got worse and I found that the hose fitting had unthreaded from the low-loss adapter, which I quickly tightened with my left hand and removed my gloves. Unfortunately I wasn't wearing rubber gloves. Work gloves soaked up liquid coolant (410A) like a sponge. When I took off my gloves, I had frostbite on my left thumb. Luckily it wasn't as bad as I feared. They blistered but healed in about 12 days, a second-degree burn. Another reason was that the hoses were 2 feet shorter. The old ones intervened.
