Review on Princeton Artist Brush Neptune Series 4750 Synthetic Squirrel Round Watercolor Paint Brush, Size 8 by Michelle Langley

I love this brush but it is no different than my other faux squirrel brushes. Specifically, I'm referring to the Creative Mark Mimic with a gray pen. For value for money, it is better to get one of the mimic kits that offer multiple shapes and sizes. I lost my size 8 Mimic round so this Neptune brush completes my set and was much needed. This brush contains tons of water and pigment, and if your brush isn't fully loaded you may end up with a sharp point. However, if you are new or not good with water control I would stay away from this line until you have better water control as this brush is quite soft with very little click or bounce. If you move it sideways, it stays flat and doesn't return to its original shape. For this reason it is also not suitable for detailing, so it is not a good "universal" brush. I think that it will be difficult to paint the whole picture with a brush. However, this is a really good brush and I'm glad I bought it. The build quality is excellent and it will last forever if you take good care of it. If I didn't already have a set of Mimic Squirrels (with a gray handle) I would definitely buy more round Neptunes. I really think I'll be buying a pair of their 3/4" and 1" Aquarelle Flats to complete my set of synthetic squirrel brushes. This brush looks and feels good, better than my mimics. It's well balanced and easy to hold whether you're near the tip or behind the handle. That's a great little brush!
