The flared nut on my pipe was on a tile that was probably added later. There was no gap behind the mother, no. Nobody needs this tool. I have no doubt about that for the rest of my life. If you think two handles are used to remove the nut and ring then you are wrong. Watch a video from the manufacturer. So I'm really glad I didn't pay 5x too much for a "different" crowfoot animal that wouldn't work without a gap behind the nut. Also, I don't understand how this $12 tool can fail.
