Very happy with the purchase! In addition to the item arriving three days ahead of the earliest scheduled delivery date, the actual assembly and installation of this iSpring UV system went extremely well. The instructions supplied with the UV system are written in such a way that they can be incorporated into more complex ballasts. Our installation uses only the basic ballast supplied with this unit. If you are only using the ballast with this device, you can skip most of the assembly steps in the manual. Most attempts to figure out how to assemble and install this device required an understanding of how it works. At first I thought I might need to unscrew the end of the block where the black connector is installed (see picture). Little did I know that a glass chamber was already installed inside the block. You don't have to disassemble anything! Simply take out the UV lamp, open the green cable package and attach the cable connectors to both ends of the lamp. Plug in the power supply, then press the black cap on the end of the assembly. This part of the installation is now complete. This unit does not come with 1/4" hose. No action needs to be taken to ensure a leak free connection. Make sure you cut the correct length first and DO NOT rely on them to run dry !After you put them in the fittings, they won't be easy to remove!I cut the appropriate lengths for our setup, squeeze them between the flow controller and the inlet, and then the other end of the flow controller that goes to the water source. Then closed I attached the faucet hose to the outlet. Once that is complete you are done! Just set up the ballast, make sure the UV chamber is mounted in a stable place, then let the water flow! I have one very small, slow leak found in the elbow fittings. A simple twist to tighten them (they are screwed into the stainless steel body) and the leak is t fixed. To make sure everything is working look at the rectangular fi connectors where the flow controller is plugged in. When you turn on the water you will hear a faint click as the flow control yes causes the ballast to turn on the light . You will see the right angle connector turn blue as the ballast snaps into place. When you turn off the water, the light goes out. Once you see the light turn on and off with the flow of water, you'll know the installation was successful. know when to order a lamp replacement. They require a UVB11 lamp and should be replaced every 12 months. I'll talk a little bit about our setup in case it can help others in a similar situation. Our setup replaced a much cheaper UV chamber connected to a three-stage filter system. The unit we replaced was a plastic assembly with a 4w bulb that burned 24 hours a day. Because it was on all the time, it heated the water to a hot temperature, which required us to turn the water on and wait about a minute for hot water to flow. It was a waste of water and a waste of energy! A word of advice, if you look online you will see that this device is selling for less. BE CAREFUL! This device is *sold* cheaper, but without a flow control device. I highly recommend purchasing this unit with a flow regulator as shown on Revain. With no flow control, your UV lamp will be on 24 hours a day, just like our old setup. This iSpring UV system is an 11W system that delivers a higher dose of UV light to the water. Once you turn on the water, it disinfects more effectively than many other cheaper devices. The unit we replaced had proprietary lighting and wiring harness that the company charged $100 a year to replace. It was a ridiculous price! The iSpring unit you're looking at now allows *you* to replace just the light itself, painlessly, for much, much less money (about $35 or less at the time of this writing)! We can highly recommend this device. If we run into any issues with this, I'll post an update here. If you don't see an update, rest assured it's still working properly.
