Review on Sceptre C248W-1920RN Curved Monitor: 75Hz, Adaptive Sync, Built-in Speakers by Stephen Ibarra

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Curved budget monitor

This review is for the Scepter 24 Curved 75Hz LED Gaming Monitor. TLDR: A great buy for those on a tight budget. I didn't have a lot of money left so I bought this monitor as it was the best option out there. With easy operation, this monitor gives you exactly what you need. It's nothing special, despite being billed as a "High Quality Curved Gaming Monitor". Ignoring the marketing, this monitor works out of the box for any purpose. There are 2 video output options for this particular monitor. VGA and HDMI. .Most computers will have an HDMI connection, no problem, while a VGA connection might be a little problematic. To be honest I have no idea why DVI or a display connection wasn't a second video input option more expensive than a VGA output to the monitor. East saves here. The good news is that the HDMI input works as expected. Therefore, I can sufficiently tell you that there will be no problems with the HDMI connection. On the other hand, I have no idea if the VGA port works as I have no reason to use it at the moment. The marketing tells me this device has built-in audio, but I have no idea what it sounds like and I won't try it. So you have to rely on what others have stated in the reviews. As for the screen itself. Everything OK. There's nothing wrong with how it looks. The screen is bright as the gloss itself is good. By that I mean this thing has a lot of glare with my current lighting settings and I'm not sure if I can fix this issue. I toned down the darkening in the small options menu, but that didn't remove the highlights. This can be a disadvantage due to the curved shape of this monitor, but I don't have enough data to confirm this. I have 2 other flat screens that don't look as glossy and none of them have as much glare. I'm currently debiting it as "cheap". Another benefit of this monitor is its 75Hz refresh rate. And let me tell you that in the most professional way possible. This monitor outputs a 75Hz refresh rate as advertised on the packaging, so those who tell you it doesn't are wrong in their assessment. I can explain this in two possible scenarios. These users assume that Microsoft automatically sets the refresh rate to 75 Hz, or that the computer in question does not have a video driver that can help set the refresh rate to 75 Hz. In order to adequately implement a refresh rate of 75 Hz, request the graphics card driver installed on the computer and make the setting in the driver itself. This will ensure the correct refresh rate as advertised for this monitor. In conclusion, I am very satisfied with this purchase. I have not dealt with the Scepter or a curved monitor before and can honestly recommend it to anyone who wants a decent cheap curved monitor for their own use. MrGrumpyMonkey
