Review on Buy the Makita B-35097 Impact Gold Ultra-Magnetic Torsion Insert Bit Holder! by Iration Ahim

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I used the best bit holder of its kind

I find ratings with low stars that go up quite unfair. This is not a substitute for drilling pilot holes, you need self-tapping screws and you really should be drilling pilot holes in hardwood. Nor does it make up for the horrible types of screw drives that are prone to eccentricity and wear, such as traditional spline and cross drives, Pozidriv, Torx or Robertson, or even new Phillips Velocity drives, anything but old Phillips. Finally, overloading can be compensated for with impact wrench and trigger control settings, and the bit holder will definitely prevent you from driving the screw too far into the wood. I wouldn't use it for fine woodwork where it needs to be exactly flush every time. What it really does is hold both the drill and the screw very securely so you can drive it in any direction with one hand so you don't have to spend extra on premium screws that have such a feature as Velocity- have screws. I had no trouble loosening the countersunk screws. I couldn't shake off the screw to get my driver up to speed, so the magnet is strong enough. This is by far the best bit holder I've tried. The price is cheap enough too so I only bought a few for the most common bits I need so I don't have to keep changing bits which is annoying as they hold the bits very tight. But that's a good thing, because on the more secure drives, the bits tend to dislodge from the typical magnetic mount.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Functionality
