I've noticed in our house that there are different "glitters" in different places; most likely due to the tint. I've used this device to inspect every wall in our house to see what exactly "shines" on most of them. It was lightning fast! I then tested many of the areas that didn't look the same and made sure they were either more or less shiny. I bought the correct color with the sheen/gloss to best match and retouched each stain. Looks great. This counter is self-calibrating. Keep various surfaces clean before beginning calibration. The meter uses 60 degree incident light for calibration/measurement. It's a good choice. You only need 80 degrees if you have a very glossy surface and need an accurate gloss/gloss rating; Likewise, if you have a very low gloss/gloss finish and need an accurate estimate, you only need 20 degrees. A 60-degree-only meter is a lot cheaper than those that offer another metering angle or two, and is more than enough for painting at home.
