This is where your extra headlights need to be covered while driving on the road. There is a ledge on the bezel so I doubt a standard 3 inch cover will fit on it. I chose not to spray as it doesn't flake. Unlike the other models, mine didn't have an extra yellow lens. I used an amber vinyl shade. The modification was as simple as removing the bezel by loosening two screws on the sides of the front and two screws on the top and bottom of the back. The way the holes are made on the back with a standard Allen wrench works on the short side too. I glued a vinyl coating to the front of the polycarbonate lens. I uploaded a photo side by side with tinted and untinted glass. The pattern is much better than my hard D2 headlights. With most mass market lighting modules, there are usually only two options: flood and spot. Premium brands offer driving patterns because they require a special reflector and optics. They're not as tightly focused as a spot, but not as diffuse as a flood either. There is a distinct rectangular pattern with some fill light around the edges. Overall it's pretty clean. I chose not to wear a hood, although the pattern reduces glare from the hood. I had a Rigid D2 on the hood and wanted to go the other way this time. Decided to install them on the front bumper. It was a fairly simple setup. I installed the brackets into the pre-existing holes in the bumper. They come with waterproof connectors and double heat shrink sealed flexible tails. They are unusually long but really easy to unplug unlike some other German plugs. The amount of light thrown onto them is high and this pattern really fills in the trenches with a slight overlap in the center for increased intensity. The total amount of light is supplemented by factory headlights when additional light is needed. There is no flicker or noise. And as far as I can see there is an even more powerful version of these headlights in the same model and form factor. Overall this is a big improvement over my old but more expensive hard high beam headlights. There are several other well-known manufacturers and I have to say that I would put their quality first.
