Review on ๐ŸŒฌ๏ธ Vicks Filter-Free Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier: Ideal for Nursery, Bedroom, and Medium-sized Spaces by Nicholas Kanat

Easy to clean and works great!

This is the fourth humidifier I've bought in the last five years, so I'm starting to feel like a humidifier expert. After the latter developed stubborn mold in some hard-to-reach spots that made the mist smell like locker rooms at public pools, he returned to the drawing board. So this time around I was primarily looking for a humidifier that was easy to clean and this one definitely ticks all the boxes. A hand or dish brush easily fits into the huge water hole at the bottom of the tank. I clean the center tube (where the steam exits) with the end of a long wooden spoon and a washcloth. This is honestly the easiest moisturizer I've ever owned. One thing I've learned from my other humidifiers is that you really need to be cleaning them all the time because once mold appears it's a lot harder to get rid of than it is to prevent. It's not the humidifier's fault if there is mold growth (although some are treated with something to help, was my last and didn't care). Any humid environment attracts mold and bacteria. It's a hassle, but I've tried to make a habit of emptying it every morning and wiping it down with some rubbing alcohol, then leaving both the base and reservoir open on a towel to dry completely during the day. Of course, this doesn't work if you want it to run 24/7, but it needs to be dried and disinfected at least every few days or you'll end up with that nasty pink residue or mold no matter which humidifier you buy. Love the design, just a simple dial to adjust the amount of mist that comes out. We ran it at near max power all night and, unlike some other reviewers, didn't notice any water buildup around the unit or on the floor. This should be obvious, but it needs to be placed on a bedside table or somewhere higher because if you run it on the floor the fog can't travel that far so you probably won't get any benefit from it and also end up with a wet one Carpet.
