Review on 🎥 DJI Ronin-S Gimbal Stabilizer by Joseph Morris

Overview I am a professional photographer and videographer who has used almost all DJI drones for aerial photography and videography. For ground work I used a glidecam, tripods, sliders, etc. In the end, when it came out, I got a Zhiyun crane. I then switched to the DJI Ronin MX, which I ended up selling because it needed a stand, the camera had to be taken out of the cage to fit the MX, and there was no easy way to adjust the camera settings when it did in place. MX. In short, when the Ronin S came out I thought it was finally the perfect stabilizer; Crane mobility but DJI quality. Well, I was definitely wrong about the quality. I really think all the 5 star reviews here either haven't used the Ronin S for a long time or aren't using it professionally in situations where your project relies on it working reliably. .THE GOODOffset Axis - The offset axis is just awesome. I'm used to flipping the screen and moving around on a gimbal that gets in the way of the screen, but the Ronin's offset axis solves these problems with a clumsy wireless solution. Battery Life - I still have to think about battery life when using this gimbal because it lasts so long. The mobility is such a relief when you can stretch your legs and lower that stabilizer instead of looking for a kickstand. which in itself was not easy to set up or quick to break. Also, it is very compact compared to Ronin MXBuild Quality. The build quality is exceptional, which is what I have come to expect from DJI. The list goes on, but if all you want is positive marketing material, there are plenty of them on YouTube. - Two words; Deceased. I'm having some big issues with mine, in fact I only returned the first one because it was still in the returns window and the customer service was so bad it was easier to just return it. Bluetooth Connection - The Bluetooth connection is terrible. . I have to restart the app a few times, turn Bluetooth on and off on my phone a few times, and finally Ronin shows up. Once connected, it's pretty reliable, but there's an issue with the connection. Lost Settings – Settings are randomly restored to factory defaults. There's nothing quite like snagging Ronin in the middle of a wedding, only to find all your profile settings gone. Returning to center is my biggest issue with this stabilizer. After you have made the pan, e.g. B. turning a corner to follow talent; Ronin will not return to the center alone. It tilts left or right and you get stuck trying to nudge the handle to slowly bring it to center without it being obvious. It also makes smooth orbits almost impossible. The crane didn't have this problem, after the panning movement it slowly, almost imperceptibly, brought the camera back to the center. That. I'm particularly looking forward to a ring design similar to the Ronin M and Ronin MX, where you remove the battery grip and attach the stabilizer to the ring and then either use a different battery solution or insert the battery grip into the ring for power. Suspension. DJI could of course see this as shorthand for their Ronin M line, but it would be the perfect way to transition from a one-hand configuration to a ring configuration. So far, DJI hasn't released much for the Ronin S. CONCLUSION The Ronin S can be an amazing one-handed and even two-handed gimbal; I really think a firmware and app update can solve most issues with it and that's the only reason I haven't sold it yet. To be honest, if Crane 3 didn't disappoint with its weird design, I would go back to Crane. But now, despite all its shortcomings, I've settled on the Ronin S and am waiting for something better. If I had to buy a gimbal today, it would probably be the Crane 2.
