I bought this to be able to control my telescope from my laptop using the RS232 cable included in the mounting kit. It has an FTDI chipset which was recommended by the bracket manufacturer and worked great on the first try. Windows 10 recognized it without loading any external drivers, but I downloaded the latest drivers from the Tera Grand website in case I needed them. I am very happy with this purchase and would not hesitate to buy again if I ever need a replacement or just a second one for a different setup. I bought one that was 10 feet long so I could be a short distance from the telescope and I have never had signal loss with it and the cable that came with the mount.
