The medium ran a little large, but I expect this is to allow for multiple layers to be worn under it. The quality was surprisingly good overall, although one button inside the pocket was not sewn on well and ended up falling off. I bought this before a November trip to Europe, where I wanted to look good but still keep warm and dry. I wore a sweater underneath, a hat and scarf, and was very warm the whole time. It didn't rain much, but when it did, the coat stayed nice and dry inside. I expect if you were out for hours in a downpour it wouldn't hold up as well, but then again, that's not what it's for.
