I bought this to use at the observatory that runs my astronomy club. We have a staircase leading from the upper observatory to the lower one. I put them on the bottom of the steps and also under the railing to light up the stairs at night. Because they are red, they do not interfere with night vision but allow you to see the stairs and maintain a level of security. So far we have used 10 of them (in parallel) on a small 7ah, 12V battery. We use them about 5 hours a day, about 4 nights before I charge the battery. Once our power installation is complete (November 2019) we will switch to low voltage outdoor lighting control controlled by a switch in the main observatory. The attached picture was taken on September 29th, 2018 and they still work just as well. Today. Yes it was ready at 7pm so it wasn't very dark yet but they do a really good job.
