This item worked perfectly, but there was one thing I did not understand at first.I was expecting the various conditions to light up to indicate correct wiring or a problem. But those conditions are just a written table that corresponds to the three lights at the top of the display. One might think that this is obvious, but for some reason it did not occur to me at first. I have no experience with household wiring.The GFCI button triggered my GFCI socket protection immediately, when applied to the GFCI socket in my first bathroom.The main reason I bought this tester was to make sure that the socket in my second bathroom, which is not itself a GFCI socket, had been wired so that the GFCI socket in my first bathroom would protect it. I tested that non-GFCI socket with this tester, and when I pressed the GFCI button, the GFCI socket in my first bathroom tripped. This confirmed that the non-GFCI socket was protected, due to the GFCI socket occupying a place between the non-GFCI socket and the breaker box, on the same circuit. So I can now feel confident that if some water splashes onto the non-GFCI socket in my second bathroom, the circuit will be interrupted, thus preventing a shock.The voltage readout showed 119 volts consistently, which seems like about the correct value, although I did not confirm this by comparing this result to one obtained using a different tester.The manual suffers from the same lack of clarity afflicting many manuals written by non-native English speakers. It is far from the worst such manual I have encountered, but it is also not among the best.All in all, this is a terrific device that works exactly as it should, and I recommend it.
