Review on Metra 70-8113 Amplifier Integration Harness for Toyota Vehicles (2000-2004) – Select and Optimize Your Car Audio System by Ricardo Thotti

I'm only writing a review to address my specific circumstances. Unfortunately, many vehicle or radio cables are different, so your mileage may vary. I bought this to replace the head unit on my 2002 Toyota Highlander with a factory amped JBL sound system. I bought a JVC KD-X330BTS stereo with RCA jacks on the back for four speakers. check with stereo descriptions. The problem was that there was an "extra" black wire with a white stripe that I couldn't identify. After just matching the wires that needed matching and eliminating those, my speakers ended up putting out loud static. Solution: It turned out to be another ground wire (for the amp?) that needed to be connected to the solid black wire. the ground wire on this Metra harness and the solid black ground wire on my radio harness. I did this by twisting the Metra wires together so they could be inserted into one end of the butt connector and then crimped. The radio ground wire went to the other end of the butt connector as usual. In general it is quite easy to use. However, I'm deducting a star because the schematic that came with this harness didn't really make it clear that the black and white striped wire was another ground wire. I hope this helps anyone facing my specific problem. (Note: Unlike some others who have reviewed this product, my Metra suspension came with an orange (or orange and white) backlight cable to match my stereo.)
