Protective grilles are easy to install in downpipes. Nicely done. Regular cleaning is required to avoid clogging. Had a downpour this afternoon and since installing a few days ago only needed a few maple seeds to clog the screens and secure the gutters and allow them to overflow. I expected that. This isn't the first screen system I've used in over 30 years. This product prevents coarse dirt from getting into the downspouts and the tiles underneath. What was my priority. It's easier to clean the gutter and gutter guard than to clean or replace clogged tiles buried underground. Speak from experience. With every umbrella system I tried the day before, the gutters themselves were either clogged with dirt or allowed rainwater to flow straight onto the ground. Downspout shielding is a sensible but maintenance-free compromise.
