My first concern was how long it would last in practice. So I decided to test it thoroughly. The first test I did was charge it fully and then put it in bug kill mode. I did it during the day. When I got home there was a dead bug in there! It was faintly glowing, so I did what any sane person would do and ran the wires through the guards. It gave me a nice little shock! This happened after about 14 hours of operation. On another occasion, after being left overnight, it attracted at least six other bugs. I also tested his flashlight by setting it up before going to work. When I got home about 16 hours later it was much darker but there was still enough light to work with. If it was a camping trip I think it would easily last a night of normal mixed use in some mode combos, maybe two. Thanks to a clever move, the lamp body is made of a glow-in-the-dark material, so even after the battery is completely dead, it still gives off enough light to find something in the tent. Overall I am very happy with this insect lantern. , and I believe it can fully meet my needs for hiking and protecting other areas from pests!
