I used to use a 2014 Samsung 4k 28 inch TN panel that I paid $320 for 2 years ago. The color is not as good as most VA panels, but compared to this VA panel, the color on my old TN panel is almost as good. My biggest criticism of this LG monitor is that it is NOT very bright AT ALL. It's actually twice as bright compared to my TN panel. Even at 100% brightness, the monitor only takes up 50% of my TN panel. It's too dark for some games or even normal desktop use. I'm sitting 2ft from the monitor and it's not that bright at all. Good thing the panel is 144Hz. I don't notice any halos and dead pixels at all, thank goodness no. The color is slightly better than my 10-bit TN (FRC) panel. This panel can also use 10 bits, but it's not as good as other VA panels on the market. I probably should have bought a 32 inch VA 144Hz HDR panel from Samsung. Brightness of 600 C/dm is enough for excellent color rendering. This LG monitor is advertised as 350 but the actual brightness is actually 300. My Samsung 4k TN panel has a peak brightness of 370 which is literally double that Hz. I'm not impressed that this is my first "gaming" monitor is. I have to admit that playing Age of Empires 2 Definitive Edition is smooth as butter. But the picture quality just isn't right. I checked out the hardware unboxed review that followed Tim and Steve and I watched every video they put out and it was one of Tim's best monitors but I'm not impressed. My 5 year old 27 inch BenQ produces a better picture than this LG panel which is VA. If you need a 2k, 144Hz monitor, go for the 27-inch panel. A 32 inch panel is too big for 2k and you can see pixelation in the text. Of course 4k at 60Hz freesync is cool. If you can find a Samsung UED 4k 1ms 60Hz TN panel for less than $300, that's a hell of a deal. This is a really damn good panel for pretty much anything if you have a 1080 Ti or better. If you're gaming like me, don't choose IPS as it's terrible for gaming. TN and VA panels are best for gaming. If you just want the fastest panel, choose TN. If you're looking for a decent picture and fast panel, go for the $450 VA. I wish I could spend $150 more on this Samsung panel right now. I play when my 4k TN panel and this panel are side by side on my desk, so I guess I'll get the best of both worlds. Edit 03/31/20 I noticed that the monitor shows a very black dark spot in the center from about 6 inches high and 1 inch top to 3 inches right bottom center. This shows up in many games and is very annoying in brightly lit areas. I should probably return this monitor, but I think my chance of getting dead pixels on the next one will be just as bad, so I'll probably keep it to myself. And one more note: the black stabilizer kills the color contrast too much, so I turned it off completely.
