A few years later: reviewing my experience

I bought this set a few years ago along with the YN622N-TX transmitter for my Nikon system. I've used it with various Nikon flashes including the 800s, 700s, 900s and Yongnuo flashes. I've had enough time to test it both in the field for paid work and in the studio. Here's my experience: Durability: These little plastic cases have proven to last. I regularly drop them at the bottom of my bags and they get scratched and worn but never stop working. Buttons, battery cover, shoe mount - everything works as it should, without any problems. Considering the cost, they've withstood a lot of abuse without major issues. I appreciate the locking mechanisms on the shoe mount that provide a more secure fit for the entire unit. Performance: When fitted correctly, they are consistent and do a great job when I'm piloting the YN622N-TX. I always use a transmitter and have not tried using these receivers in any other way. A couple of times I've encountered connection issues related to how securely the device attaches to the hot shoe, but that's usually fixed with a push-and-pull, and that's rare. I have used HSS in many cases. no problem and it was a great incentive to buy the device. I've been shooting outdoors in direct sunlight with HSS and haven't had any connectivity issues. I've photographed events with one of these units set up on a balcony 20-30 feet away with no problem. I use high capacity rechargeable AA batteries for devices and they last quite a long time. I can shoot 6-10 shots a week without changing batteries, although I'm not shooting at fast FPS. Overall, I like these devices and will definitely buy them again. Highly recommended!
