This works well if you are not happy with the grout color. In my case I laid a multicolored (Indian) slate with Mapei Pearl Gray grout. For some reason the mortar had set, too light in my opinion, probably due to the porosity of the slate. Although I applied a reinforcement/sealant to the surface of the slate before grouting, I intentionally left the edges smooth for better adhesion to the grout. In any case. The instructions state that the product should dry for about 30 minutes before cleaning. This probably works well for glazed smooth tiles, but not stone. There is another post about travertine here - you have to be very careful with any type of stone that has holes/pockets. I think it would be absolute killer to clean the holes with this product, in which case you should consider sealing the seams. As I said above, I pre-sealed the slate before applying the grout, but with all the natural burrs/cracks in the slate, the method given in the instructions is just too cumbersome - then you have to scrub the slate for the cured product out of the cracks. and it's not fun. What helped me the most was wiping the product off immediately with a damp sponge, turning it constantly. The sponge will occasionally rub some paint off the grout, but this can easily be touched up after it has cured. Make sure you have a clean bucket of water handy, rinse the sponge often and change the water regularly. Just like grout, but a bit messier in a way because it's essentially paint. If necessary, this product can be removed after curing with 91% isopropyl alcohol and a cloth. Hard on fingers but actually works well. I know this because I've experimented with different colors of this product and had to remove some of them because I didn't want to build up multiple layers after picking my final color. two coats, can't really tell because it dries so thin it looks like the grout itself is that color, not that it's painted or coated. I spread it out by laying a thin, straight strip from the container along the grout line and then just use my finger to smooth everything out, filling in the corners and crevices/cracks. I think it's a brush. It's the consistency of Elmer's glue. Note that it will darken slightly as it dries. I used a gray color, the liquid darkens as it dries/cures for 20-30 minutes. Much luck. with your attitude!
