Each of these anti-slip products has several bad reviews that cast serious doubt on their outdoor reliability. Being a pessimist by nature, I ordered the 2 inch version of this product thinking I was doing a stupid job. (I can't remember exactly why I chose this product, but my massive brain must have churned through the available data and drawn the conclusion(s).) The intended use was (ridiculously) off-code on my end of the deck (cool!) Ramp that's at least 30 years old, slippery as if it were fully extended and in my 6 years of presence (and probably 15 years before that) absolutely zero maintenance in terms of maintenance. I took off the spindles and bottom rail to prepare for the rest of the work. I came up with the design for this inevitably unfortunate project, all the while cursing myself for being stupid. . .I washed the ramp. Washed again with bleach. And washed. I sanded off the old paint with a belt sander and then sander. I swept and washed again as described above. I wiped again. He wiped down the ramp with a bad rag (a rag soaked in turpentine). I cut and glued the strips according to my plan and cursed my stupidity and diligence. Not only am I the laziest person alive, but I *knew* it was a waste of time. The duct tape definitely won't last long on this poorly made, heavily weathered ramp in the South Carolina sun, heat, humidity and rain. I was wrong. NOT CORRECT. Despite a dozen or more good soaks and sun and traffic and all, this tape has far more - far, far more - lived up to my expectations. I make this confession unreservedly and enthusiastically. This is a great product IMHO. . . if you take the time and effort to let it be.
