I have been using mattress pads and pillowcases for over 6 months and am very happy with my purchase! plastic feel or sound, but still soft. I finally found her! These protectors are like the softest fleece, so smooth and silky. And while I can see a somewhat shiny layer of protective "plastic" on the inside, I can't feel or hear it on the outside. It looks like some kind of optical illusion. I have a fairly expensive pillow, it has a cooling effect and I was hesitant to seal it with a waterproof cover. But somehow, true to his word, this case actually breathes! My head doesn't sweat at all. (Well, no more than usual for me) I can also say about his defensive skills. I was having coffee in bed one morning when our dog decided he wanted to play. I almost spilled a full cup of coffee on my pillow and bed. Not a single drop went.
