Review on Chrome RP54870 Reno Repair Trim Kit: Enhance Delta 600 Series Tub and Shower Trim Kits with Delta Faucet Shower Handle by Quinton Martinez

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Fixation of the flow direction.

I ordered this kit because I needed genuine parts for fit and finish. The shower was updated and at the same time wanted to clean the shower fixtures without having to replace the entire valve assembly. It did the job and looks great. I've read a number of reviews mentioning having to turn the knob in the opposite direction as stated on the finish plate to get cold or hot water. This is indicated in the final instructions on the sheet that accompanies the parts. 9. Check that hot water comes out of the valve when the lever handle is turned fully clockwise. This is the opposite of the original crystal ball handle design. That is the reason for four stars and not five. I found this confusing and didn't want to get used to turning the handle in the opposite direction as shown on the finish plate. This can be corrected by using the original RP212 bullet instead of the conversion bullet supplied with the kit. The stem of the original ball has a diamond shape that needs to be ground to a round shape. Sawing is only possible because of the threaded hole in the shank. The hole in the handle may need to be drilled "after removing the set screw" to allow the shaft to fit the ball which has been rounded. After that, the shank needs to be filed from the underside for the set screw in the handle. Assemble with new handle. You now have hot water when you turn the knob counter-clockwise and cold water when you turn it clockwise. This is a fairly easy fix for those who are mechanically inclined. It took me about half an hour to change.
