Durable sandpaper suitable for sanding sheets

Durable 3M sandpaper that lasts a long time. I've used it to restore headlights, restore and polish instruments, and sand down woodworking projects. Most will say that sanding 1000 grit pine is unnecessary and a waste of time. Of course they are right, but I strongly recommend trying it at least once. The paper holds up well both wet and dry. A while back I learned the hard way never to buy cheap sandpaper. You can't go wrong with 3M. Highly recommended.

Pros
  • Handy sheet that can be used wet or dry on paint, primer, gelcoat and metal
Cons
  • Nothing here

If you have a small, square hand grinder, check out these economical models.

I've been using 600 grit wet/dry sanding paper for 40 years. Locally you can't get leaves from where I live. I can take 1 sheet from this packet, fold it in quarters, cut along those fold lines and make sanding sheets for my sander. Efficient and saves time on things I can't find where I live. When using it, I use it almost exclusively for wet sanding of wood coatings (polycrylic). Even if they get a warning and stop cutting, and the first time I use them, I keep the blades and they just get…

Pros
  • Features Waterproof wet sanding pad
Cons
  • Cord shorter than other sanders

3M Wet/Dry Sandpaper

3M generally makes good products. I have needed this sand pack for several projects and they last a very long time, are very solidly built and all my projects look great. I've used them to sand headlights, descale chrome tailpipes, remove stains on delicate surfaces, smooth delicate surfaces, remove sun damage from clear coat solar panels, etc. They don't crack when wet, which is the best aspect this brand compared to others.

Pros
  • Power Sander Parts & Accessories
Cons
  • Crumpled

Wanted to restore my headlights!

Excellent for restoring my plastic headlights on my car. They had some nice scratches so I decided to start with 1000 grit and go up to 2000, finish at 3000 and use Meguiar's Ultimate Compound after that. Everything turned out great. I watched a lot of youtube videos before making my headlights and found that there are many different ways to do it, but in the end it comes down to the process that works best for you, your budget and how you want to do it. Either way, 3M always delivers great…

Pros
  • Finishing power tool parts and accessories

Ideal for pre-polishing metal surfaces

I've gone from cleaning to polishing some of the car parts I've restored and have never been completely satisfied with the result unless I've spent hours polishing. Then a friend suggested this 2000 grit sandpaper which is nothing short of amazing metal surface preparation before polishing. I took some old Jaguar carburettors and used them (wet) to remove the last bits of oxidation; When I was done it looked like I had already started polishing. There are quite a few sheets in the pack, but…

Pros
  • Power and hand tools
Cons
  • Available in white only
