Great Alternative for Industrial Laminates

I was hesitant to try this product as I am used to traditional laminates, but I am so happy I did. Through trial and error, I found that this pultruded flat controlled composite is a great alternative. It is easy to work with and has a high strength-to-weight ratio. The flexibility and durability make it perfect for my industrial and scientific needs. The only downside is that it is not as widely available as traditional laminates.

Pros
  • High strength-to-weight ratio, flexibility and durability.
Cons
  • Not as widely available as traditional laminates.

Good for guitar mounting

As expected, this material is very stiff and light. I laminated a piece with a layer of spruce wood and made a top brace for an acoustic guitar out of it. (Part of an experimental design to allow the use of a detachable neck.) Fish glue was used for lamination and seems to stick well. It can be cut and sanded with common woodworking tools. The only downside is the fine black dust that makes a mess. I'll be using more of this stuff when I'm looking for ways to reduce the weight and increase the…
