Beautiful and quiet, the best among engine parts

It is easy to install, beautiful and quiet. Replaced the compressor and thought it was time to replace it. I was glad I did because when I took the old bearing off it rattled and didn't sound like there was much life in it. Don't skimp, change the tensioner when you turn on the compressor or when it starts making noise.

ACDelco AC Bottom Belt Tensioner - only the best

Needed to replace the AC Bottom Belt Tensioner (38159) on our 2003 Tahoe after 80 miles which was starting to make noise. This is a genuine ACDelco part, not a counterfeit. It installed perfectly and works perfectly as expected. Revain outbid local suppliers and I was delivered to my door within 2 days with Prime.ACDelco 38159 Professional Automatic Belt Tensioner and Pulley.

Pros
  • Hands free operation
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for elderly

worked like a charm on my 2001 Suburban

Finally managed to replace the AC tensioner (and belt) on my 2001 Suburban, no more creaking! It's an OEM part so no surprises on installation, check youtube for how to replace it, I did it in a parking lot without lifting the Suburban, there's plenty of room although the bolts are a bit tight. The part I received was marked with the production date "19". I think the part I took off the truck was the original "01" so it lasted 18 years, no wonder it squeaked!

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

Worked great to get my AC working again

I checked online in my small town to see if my local O-Reilly has this part. On the internet he indicated that "my shop" had the part in stock. Went there and after playing around with his computer for about 10 minutes the guy said the only thing he had available was another part (I didn't give him a part number I just told him what I needed and that year of manufacture of my truck), which cost 3 times as much. I said I will think about it, came home, ordered this one, received it in 2 days…

  • Durable finish

Great part and great service.

07 Suburban LTZ. Definitely recommend the product, definitely recommend the company. So far so good. Not only did the part arrive on time and fit perfectly, it also included an accompanying technical bulletin with inspection instructions and links to review worn parts for a possible cause of failure and the need for further diagnosis. In my opinion, always higher. If you have the right tools and a way to safely jack up the front of the car, my Suburban had 6 screws loosened (4 for the plastic…

  • Great for a small house

Fixed a squeaking noise in my 2006 GMC Sierra 5.3.

The front end of my 2006 GMC Sierra 5.3 made the same squeaks as many others. I replaced the large idler pulley and that eliminated a noise, but I still heard a slightly weaker noise. I removed this pulley and found it to be difficult to turn causing the small AC belt to drag and squeak. I also added the 38158 tensioner to the order because I figured I might as well replace the last of the three pulleys while I didn't have a tool. The parts arrived quickly as usual, were packed in original…

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers

Perfect replacement OEM

Looks great and rolls smoothly. One caveat: When installing this tensioner, it's easy to put the left-hand bolt (when looking at the front of the engine) in the wrong hole. There is a threaded hole just above the left tensioner flange where you can put a bolt and it WILL tighten against the face of the tensioner flange. However, when you start screwing it on, it won't feel good - it won't seat properly because it won't fit through the tensioner flange hole! This mistake can easily happen when…

  • Beautiful packaging

A/C belt tensioner on engine parts

This tensioner is an OEM factory part. It fits my Suburban perfectly. My application was a 2002 1/2-ton Chevrolet Suburban LS, 4WD with a 5.3-liter flex-fuel engine (up to E-85). You can tell that your vehicle is a flex fuel vehicle if there is a "Z” in position 8 of your VIN: for example 1GNFK16Z02J14xxxx. If you order this part, your engine will most likely make a clanking noise when the A/C is on and the A/C V-belt may also snap. There have been several TSBs on the subject and countless…
