A radio amateur I talk to regularly about my Yaesu FT-7800R lives 6 miles from me. I used the supplied microphone when we started the QSO. Then I changed the microphone. He said that the new microphone has better sound quality. He said the "S" value went up one bar. So I continue to use the new mic and keep the original as a spare.

This mic looks like a good design but the sound from it is pretty bad. Contacts told me it sounded like a cheap walkie-talkie. Then I controlled it myself on another radio. It has a very bad high pitched creaking sound. I bought it for mobile use to avoid damaging my genuine Yaesu microphone. Looks like I'll be using the Yaesu mic after all. I sent the microphone back.

I am very pleasantly surprised by this microphone. I was afraid to order after reading the bad reviews. but this mic actually looks better than the original Yaesu mic that came with my FT-2800M. The audio reports are fine and I can't say anything bad about them yet, even though it's only been a few days. I will update this review in a few months. EDIT: Still very happy and had no issues with this mic at all!

The PTT switch died after about 2 hours of full use. This is despite the fact that it is neatly stored in a waterproof box when not in use and is only used on a few occasions for outdoor events. I checked all the pins on the connector, in addition to the microphone switch component. Electrically everything is fine, but my FT-1500m no longer interferes. The mic lasted long enough to be outside the return window. For this reason I cannot recommend this microphone at all.

Okay the mic might not be the same quality and quality as your Yaesu but if the cable is the only problem you can use this cable by loosening the three screws in the mic head and just unplugging it the cable. . Do the same for the standard microphone and connect the new cable. The fake microphone version does not have the same sound quality as the original and the light is too bright. By only replacing the cable, you keep the same sound and light quality that you are used to.

Due to the stress on the radio connector, the cable has partially lengthened. Finding a long body RJ11 plug is not easy, and then there is a crimping tool. This replacement cable was worth the money. Three screws on the back of the microphone loosened the clam shell. Disconnect the old cable, connect the new one, mount the cable gland and it's ready to be sealed. It took 5 minutes. Mt FT 8800 is back in service. You still need to reduce stress on the cable as it exits the radio on an RJ11…

This handheld mic works well and sounds good enough to use on my cellphone. I used this handheld mic to replace a broken TYT with a similar one. All connections are correct and the microphone works fine, except that it didn't work right away.
