On large/long prints I had some pretty serious layer shifts on the Ender 3's glass bed. I suspect the print head was colliding with the print and moving the glass. I fixed it on a metal plate and fixed the glass on top with the same clamps and there are no more problems with the layers. Update: Finally applied and everything worked as expected. The glass bed is thus held on top of the standard bed - no clamps are required. It definitely increases the height (and weight) of the bed while decreasing the height you can print. I've never typed so fast that weight was an issue. Cleaning the glass from the glass was easy so not having to take it off was never a problem.
