Lack of Support: Shoe

I'm a big fan of the Altra shoes because of the wide toe box so I was disappointed that these shoes didn't work. The combination of the lack of arch support and lateral foot support made me give the boots only three stars.

Pros
  • Well built
Cons
  • Damaged

Sizes run larger than before

I live to wear Altras; it said their sizes are everywhere. The ones that are now are closer to US sizing. Unfortunately I ordered a size up as one should have done in the past. Maol shoes are a hassle to order, but stores don't cater to the full range like Revain does. Spring. I have to wait for the correct size to appear

Great hiking shoes! - Running

Great hiking shoes! I walked 6 miles in them the day after they arrived. I developed a hammer toe and my previous running shoes no longer fit. The wide toe in them makes a HUGE difference! I can use a toe brace with them. I would give them 5 stars except I don't know how they will hold up until I go out with them a few more times.

Pros
  • Only positive
Cons
  • Long wait

Good fit, bad for slippery conditions

The shoe was AMAZING from the moment it was taken out of the box. However, I am so disappointed that any slightly slippery surface (mossy rocks, mud, etc.) felt very dangerous in these boots. I have to be very careful where I step so as not to slip. I'm surprised because the tread on the outsole of the shoe looks solid. Unfortunately in practice they are not ideal for mountain time as I had hoped.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • No performance

You can run in it - Athletic

I have 2nd toe capsulitis and pain in the ball of my foot. I bought it to walk and it works which is why I give it 5 stars. Otherwise it heats up quickly, so I'm not sure how this is supposed to work in the height of summer. I don't like the ankle support, I prefer a looser ankle so my legs are more flexible so I didn't lace the ankle but that's my preference. I'm so thankful for Altra shoes to be able to walk with the injury.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something

Highlighter good for trail running

I love Lone Peak trail runners! I have always loved walking and hiking. About 5 years ago I developed a neuroma on my left leg. I received cortisone shots and other treatments, but the amount of walking and hiking was greatly reduced. It was depressing! I can walk again with my Altrams! The way the shoe allows my foot to splay naturally eliminated my problem. I believe if all shoes were made like Altra humans, humans would not have neuroma at all.

Pros
  • Durable finish
Cons
  • Upgrades available

Super comfy ladies

I have trail runners for rent (low top) which I usually wear on most hikes. I have nerve pain in my feet from tight hiking shoes/boots so they were good and never hurt after a hike. Started making 14s in Colorado and needed some extra ankle support. This shoe definitely helps with ankle support. I will say if you want more ankle stability this is NOT the shoe. If you want comfort with foot and ankle mobility with some stability, this is for you. I'm going to try 3 hard hikes next month and see…

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • Tradeable

Previous rating after 2 rides

Comfortable, easy to lace up, good traction. There are no drainage holes, which helps keep my feet drier when the trail is only slightly wet. They seem more made for real hiking and climbing. They have more lateral stability than Lonepeaks high-top shoes. The toe cap actually has 3 stitches to keep it from coming loose. However, after only 2 long hikes, the thread is looking a little worn; Let's see how it works after 100 km. Fits well; I always take Altras 1/2 size larger than my street shoes.

Pros
  • nice item
Cons
  • nothing

What I was looking for

I don't usually take the time to post photos but I'm in love with these tourists. I wear a 9 or 8 1/2 in a lot of shoes. I always buy 9 from Altras and they are perfect. They flex just enough to prevent constant chafing on the heel or sides of my feet but help stabilize my ankles. I like the look and the color. If you like wearing thick socks, which I don't like as they are only suitable for summer and spring hikes, I would go half a size up. No regret. I'll add a plugin for another product…

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent
Cons
  • Band
