A true gamer's device at the speed of light!

I bought an AmpliFi HD Gamer's Edition to replace my 5 year old router. I live in an apartment building and have noticed a lot of channel interference from neighboring apartments. Set up was a breeze! The firmware prompted me twice to update. It showed up on the front display and all I had to do was click the refresh button on the screen. I like the LCD touch screen. Super comfortable! I wanted an elegant and sophisticated router that would make me smile every time I see it. This Gamer's…

Broke in less than a week

I decided to spend an extra $40 for the low latency and cool black design. The grid points are poorly designed and take up the entire socket due to the ridiculous protrusion on the plug design. The box states that there are 270 DOFs that must have been left in the non-game design since these grid points are 0 DOF bricks with zero tolerance for their shape and spacing around the exit. Now one of the grid points keeps looking for the hub no matter how close I put it, and I've had it for less than

Frustrated, misleading and expensive

The information clearly states that the grid points are rotated 270 degrees. Not true. There is no possibility of rotation. False information and advertising. It even says so on the packaging. The non-playable version rotates. Did they forget to update their own documentation? The instructions weren't enough, they were difficult to read. It would be nice if the font was bigger and bolder. No need to use bright light and magnifying glass. We have a 3600 square foot house. I bought this system to

Pros
  • Same as everything before
Cons
  • All right

Works great. No dead zones and stable coverage without rebooting the router every few days. The only thing that bothers is the data transfer speed. It's very stable, but the bitrate is much lower than other routers I have. Don't expect more than 150-200Mbps wirelessly. Speedtest direct from a device on my 400Mbps ISP rarely downloads more than 220Mbps. If I plug a laptop or other router directly into the same, I can easily get all 400+ Mbps. This is with the "Bandwidth or Games" settings.

Pros
  • Great for a small home

  • Something's wrong

Completely destroys Google WiFi

I've tried mesh solutions from Eero, Orbi, Luma, Google and Samsung and they've all returned to the store for one reason or another. I kept the Google module until this one came out because it was the least bad, but by plugging it in and putting the grid points in the same spots as the Google modules, I immediately saw a huge (+70%) increase in throughput and signal. longevity as well as the advertised latency reduction. That's a beast. Ping 2 ms, 877 Mbps down, 400 Mbps out, sustained, on…

I wish I had received it sooner.

I live in an apartment with an odd layout - I think it's designed to cut down on 'neighbor noise', but it's terrible for WiFi, especially when you add the other 12 networks that all bars show full when I browse my network (and many others just a little less than full). I kept losing connection in my living room in the evenings (very annoying when Roku would establish itself over Wi-Fi while trying to watch a movie), and I often found myself missing the connection to download a recipe to my…

Nothing for advanced! ok for others

I bought this unit because it was well tested and made by a top notch company. I bought this expecting it to be a better device than my old Asus AC-RT68U router. In a way, it is: uptime, speed, and coverage have been phenomenal. Unfortunately, this means giving up many advanced features like QoS, port triggering, OpenVPN, and DDNS. The admin page for this device is a single page with multiple options. There are other options available in the app, but these are not available through the web…

Attractive packaging with significant design flaw on some layouts.

This is a good, simple solution with many useful features and benefits IF (and only if) your Internet connection is in the middle of your house. It's not actually a real grid, but more on that later. There's a lot to like about AmpliFi. As usual from Ubiquiti, the hardware looks very good. It has a small form factor and looks modern and even pretty when it comes to home electronics. The router has a small touchscreen that can cycle through different modes to show you useful information about…

Pros
