Not working, lever missing

Tried to use it on a Mini Cooper S W11 engine, failed. First, the grip is too short and there just isn't enough leverage to compress the valve spring. Second, even if you manage to compress the spring, you have to hold it while removing or installing the valve cotters, which is extremely difficult if you don't have an assistant. I've found that a simple 7" C-clamp with a socket from this or a similar tool works much better. Refunded for a refund.

Very important! in Engine Tools

I was a little apprehensive about some of the reviews but I quickly realized that they were misusing the tool. You don't have to clamp this and then turn the screw threads, rather you lightly tighten the threads with the handle fully closed just to set them in place, then pull the handle back and adjust in small increments and clamp then tighten it until you get close enough to just about dislodge the keeper, but no more so leverage isn't impossible. If you use it right, it's amazing!

My only regret? Don't buy this beforehand!

I rarely write reviews on here but wanted everyone to know that this product is a VERY time saver! This saved me from having to hold the cylinder head down with a traditional tool to install and remove the valve retainer. This worked great for my BMW M30B34 cylinder head and to my knowledge this tool is quite needed for cylinder heads with recessed valve springs. Finally, I recommend everyone who is interested in this tool to watch the video as it provides some tips on how to use it best. This…

Great, but I need help. Please read the review.

This is a good valve spring puller, even for Hemi engines. But for the reason I gave it a 3, you need to lube all the bolts on it and all the rotating parts. If you do not put pressure on the metal parts. With 4 springs it started showing metal filings and part of the vise became very difficult to turn. After taking it off and greasing a few parts it was better than out of the box. So keep that in mind or you will break it. Other than that it was a great purchase and making the valve springs on

  • Big and bulky

Is working. hardly. in power tools

I have been a mechanic for over 40 years and have used a wide range of tools and I have to say that while this tool works to a certain extent it is non-intuitive and doesn't work very good. Very badly designed in my opinion. The "trick" is to adjust the position so you can fold the handle (which in turn compresses the valve spring) last, using leverage and mechanical advantage. The problem is that the design doesn't give you very good access to the valve holders. I strongly recommend purchasing

Useless after a day of removing 24 valves

I have used this to remove the valve train on two engines. After removing a total of 24 valves, I found that the lower part of the yoke (the part adjacent to the valve) was sticking when trying to adjust the height. Eventually the adjuster stopped turning and as you can see from my photos it looks like part of the middle nut started stripping the threads and eventually the threads on the nuts broke which this brand new tool failed to do stopped working properly. . As soon as I screwed the…
